Board approves sale of county‑owned parcel on Middle Road after upset bids

The Craven County Board of Commissioners on Jan. 5 voted to approve final conveyance of a county‑owned surplus parcel on Middle Road (parcel ID 3021022) that the county acquired through tax foreclosure.

County Attorney presented the background: an initial offer of $3,200 was followed by upset bids, and the highest and final bid was $15,000. The attorney said foreclosure costs and past‑due taxes totaled $3,161.88 and the tax value of the property is $10,800. "It's my recommendation to the board that you approve this for final conveyance," the county attorney said.

Commissioners moved, seconded and approved the sale on roll call. The county attorney noted this property is owned outright by the county (not jointly with the city of New Bern or another municipality).
