Council schedules code recodification and training, approves a Type A board appointment

City Secretary/administrative staff announced a planned recodification of Joshua City ordinances that will review ordinances adopted since 2009. Miss Holloway said the project will take about nine months to a year and is budgeted at roughly $15,000.

Miss Holloway also proposed a training session for council members, boards and key staff on Jan. 24 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.; the council agreed to place the date on calendars and budget for the training.

On personnel and appointments, Human Resources staff reported increased workload and received direction to begin recruiting for a 20‑hour‑per‑week, part‑time administrative assistant (Admin II classification) without benefits; staff will return with funding details as part of an upcoming budget amendment. The council unanimously approved moving Elizabeth Webb from an alternate position into a permanent seat on the Type A board after Webb introduced herself and described her IT and business background.

No formal spending beyond previously budgeted items was approved at the meeting for these administrative efforts; staff will return with implementation details or budget requests where needed.
