Saint Albans council sets code-revision ordinance for second reading

The Saint Albans City Council on Jan. 6 voted to set an ordinance approving the 2025 replacement pages to the City Code for a second reading.

The motion to set the ordinance for second reading was made and seconded and carried without recorded opposition. Council members noted they are still waiting for final rewording from the county before final adoption; one council member said the county offices had been closed for the holidays and Mike had not received the updated text yet.

Council members also reminded colleagues who choose not to update their personal code books to return removed pages to the clerk rather than discard them so replacement pages can be redistributed. The council indicated the change is routine code maintenance; no final adoption occurred at the Jan. 6 meeting.

The ordinance was described in council discussion as an administrative update to the city code; council agreed to schedule a formal vote at the second reading once county wording is received and staff completes the final rewording process.
