Local host promotes vacation rentals, says properties are housing families displaced by home damage

During the public‑comment period at the Jan. 5 meeting, Nathaniel Hammond introduced himself as a property manager living at 680 Scenic View Drive in Union and described three vacation rental properties near Washington: the Tam loft, the Aussie cottage and the Beekeepers cottage. Hammond said the properties are close to downtown and offer amenities and views, and he described positive guest experiences during a recent 10‑day stay at the Tam loft and Thanksgiving at the Beekeepers cottage.

Hammond also said the properties have served families temporarily displaced from damaged homes. “We were fortunate enough to have some availability for them as well,” he told council members, adding that the Aussie cottage is a “great house for a family” and is well stocked for cooking and extended stays.
