The Upper Dublin School District Board of School Directors approved a series of committee recommendations and administrative items during its Dec. 15 legislative meeting.
The board approved the minutes from the November meeting, then approved education committee recommendations including the 202627 calendar and authorization for a Coal Cracker girls wrestling tournament student activity in Jim Thorpe, Pa. Finance Chair Mr. Sirota moved to approve six finance items (6af) that had been discussed at the finance committee; the motion passed by voice vote. The personnel committee moved two items: the personnel report and creation of an educational assistant position; both passed by voice vote. Administration presented and the board approved one pupil-services agreement that had been provided in the board packet.
Policy committee items (9ac) were considered as first readings: the proposed renumbering (827 to 829) and a consolidated conflicts-of-interest policy (new 08/27, consolidating prior policies) plus charter updates; the board approved these items to proceed to second reading at the January legislative meeting. Mr. Sirota moved and the board approved legislative meeting dates for the board's term (these dates will be added to the district calendar and publicized).
Votes at a glance: minutes approved (voice vote); 202627 calendar approved (voice vote); student activity (girls wrestling) approved (voice vote); six finance items approved (voice vote); personnel report and educational assistant position approved (voice vote); pupil services agreement approved (voice vote); policy items moved forward as first readings (approved for second reading); legislative meeting dates approved (voice vote).
Why it matters: routine committee approvals set the district's operational and governance calendar and authorize student activities and staffing changes that affect programs and services.
What happens next: policy items will return for second reading at the January legislative meeting; administration will publish the approved calendar and meeting dates.
