Mill Creek board approves new courses, internships and field trip requests

The Mill Creek Township School District board voted Nov. 24 to approve a block of instructional items that superintendent staff presented as previously discussed at committee. The consent block (items 5.01–5.27) included athletic schedules, conference travel approvals, a senior class trip to Cedar Point (no district cost beyond substitutes), and a set of new or revised course offerings for the 2026–27 school year.

Among the academic changes listed in the packet were honors anatomy and physiology, honors chemistry for health sciences, robotics 3, digital illustration, welding and fabrication 3, intro to statistics, world religions, several composition courses, applied digital skills (Microsoft Office Essentials) and a set of course title clarifications. The board also approved a five-year internship agreement with Slippery Rock University and a one-year interpreting services agreement. A revision to a BNI service agreement was approved for a student who no longer requires one-to-one aid.

Miss Winchell, who presented the items, told the board that course descriptions and supporting materials were attached to the public agenda packet. The motion to adopt items 5.01–5.27 was moved and seconded and carried by voice vote.
