Marion County Quorum Court approves package of budget and appropriation ordinances

The Quorum Court of Marion County, Arkansas, approved a package of budget and appropriation ordinances in a meeting that focused on housekeeping changes and several corrective transfers.

Court leadership opened the session by asking to read measures by title only. The court voted to return unused special-election reimbursement money to the Election Reimbursement Fund (fund 1008) tied to a special election held Nov. 18; Moderator (Speaker 3) said the unused money needed to be returned to fund 1008.

The court also approved a $15,000 appropriation from the Rural Community Grant fund (3562) to OPLFPD as a matching contribution for a fire-department grant. Moderator (Speaker 3) introduced the item and it passed by voice vote with no recorded opposition.

An ordinance transferring county sales-tax road department funds was approved after members clarified the shift removes planned machinery and equipment line items tied to four positions that were not filled. Speaker 1 said the change concerns machinery and equipment, not payroll.

The court approved a transfer to the county buildings improvement account to cover security-system upgrades after staff reported bids came in lower than earlier estimates and $15,000 would be shifted from one-time funds.

Separately, the court raised the county's capital-asset threshold from $2,500 to $5,000 to streamline reporting and address longstanding inventory discrepancies; Speaker 8 said an accurate capital-asset list has been lacking since 2015 and raising the threshold would ease compliance.

All measures on the docket were advanced by motion and settled by voice vote. No roll-call tallies for individual members were recorded in the transcript.

The court adjourned at the close of the session.
