Residents press Warrick County Election Board to improve meeting notices and post minutes

During public comment, residents urged the Warrick County Election Board to improve how meeting notices and minutes are posted and distributed.

Don Julian, who identified himself during public comment as a Warrick County resident, said he learned about previous meetings only by finding recordings on YouTube and that minutes dating back to October were not on the election‑board or clerk’s website. "I just found out about this meeting, 2 days ago," Julian said, adding that many voters do not check courthouse doors and would rely on email or social media notices.

Board members acknowledged problems with posting. One member said the county’s IT staff and website processes have caused delays and that the clerk’s office does not have direct control over website uploads. The circuit court clerk told residents to send an email to clerk@warrickcounty.gov to be added to a notice list so the office can compile a distribution database.

Speakers in the audience and one board member said restoring access to a previously used Facebook page and compiling party contact lists could help. The board agreed to add an item to the next agenda to clarify the technical and administrative steps required to publish approved minutes on the public website and to develop a notification list for meeting notices.

The board set a tentative follow‑up meeting date (Jan. 15) and discussed holding some meetings after work hours to make them accessible to residents who work during the day. The board closed the meeting after no further public comments.
