River Ridge Academy students practice formal dining etiquette during five-course meal

River Ridge Academy students practiced formal dining etiquette as part of a nutrition and life-skills program and presented a five-course meal, the broadcast reported.

An unnamed food service provider for the district described the program as an effort to "go above and beyond" simply feeding students and said the classes teach practical rules for formal dining that students can use at weddings, business dinners and in jobs that require dining etiquette. "As a food service provider for the district, we wanna, you know, just go above and beyond just feeding the kids every day," the speaker said.

A student participating in the program described learning which utensils to use for different courses and demonstrated table manners emphasized in class. The broadcast said a full video of the dining-etiquette lesson is available on the district's YouTube channel.

The program was presented as part of the school's nutrition and life-skills instruction; the broadcast did not specify whether the meals were part of the regular school lunch program or a separate event open to the public.
