Madison County supervisors set budget workshop schedule, plan amendment hearing

Madison County supervisors agreed meeting dates and next steps to move a proposed budget amendment toward a formal hearing. Speaker 1 and Speaker 2 settled on three department‑presentation sessions — Monday the 15th, Thursday the 18th and Friday the 19th at 9:00 a.m. — to hear department heads present budget requests and to prepare for amendment deliberations.

Speaker 2 said staff would finalize the amendment entries, post the amendment on the county website (referred to in the meeting as Dom’s website) and arrange newspaper publication of the required notice (scheduled for the 9th) so the public hearing could proceed. The board discussed whether to combine a hearing into the 15th session; ultimately the hearing was tentatively set for the 16th at 9:30 a.m., with supervisors noting members who would need to call in if unable to attend in person.

Board members emphasized the need for complete reconciliations and clear cash‑balance figures to be available before the formal vote on the amendment. Staff were directed to bring finalized numbers and supporting documentation to the scheduled presentations and to ensure all departments that require amendment entries — notably secondary roads and emergency management — are included in the packet.
