Riverview Center outlines victim services, outreach and local presence; requests funding

Mindy Myers, a therapist with the Riverview Center who covered the presentation for Paige Everly, described the nonprofit’s services in Winneshiek County and the region and asked the board to consider a funding request included in meeting materials.

Myers said Riverview served 49 Winneshiek County clients in the past year and provides advocacy and therapy services, hospital on‑site advocacy for forensic evidence collection, short‑term shelter coordination and community outreach. She described weekly office hours at NICC and Luther and partnerships with schools, hospitals and law‑enforcement SART teams (sexual assault response teams) across the service area.

Myers said the center has a small local staff presence — "me and two advocates" — and that funding pressures and federal grant parameters mean future local capacity is uncertain. She asked supervisors to sustain local support so the center can continue campus outreach, training (including RA training at Luther) and immediate response services for victims.

Board members thanked Myers and indicated support for continuing conversations about funding; no formal appropriation was taken at the meeting.
