Woodbury County board approves routine appointments, boards and commissions by unanimous consent

The Woodbury County Board of Supervisors approved the meeting agenda and passed a consent agenda that included routine appointments and approvals for boards and commissions.

Items on the consent agenda included appointment of Laura Sievers as county engineer; appointment of Dr. Julie Bridal as county medical examiner; appointment of Jared Jipson as Woodbury County weed commissioner; and designation of the county's official newspapers. The consent package also approved membership or reappointments for the conservation board, the Siouxland District Board of Health and a commission to assess damages.

Supervisor Herron asked how many outreach attempts had been made when the clerk's paperwork showed "no response" for some vacancies, noting difficulties filling positions and suggesting another round of outreach. A supervisor replied that the board and staff had worked on the commission to assess damages and had moved a few people around but did not specify the exact number of vacancies.

The agenda and consent items were moved and seconded and carried on a voice vote recorded by the chair as 5-0.

Appointments named in the consent agenda will be reflected in county records and take effect according to regular appointment procedures.
