Atascosa County accepts $307,346 mental health court grant and approves staffing details

County Auditor Tracy Brewer presented an 81st Judicial District mental health court grant awarded to Atascosa County for $307,346.08 in fiscal year 2025–26, saying it is the county’s first-ever mental health court grant and requires no local match.

Brewer read the grant summary and provided a list of included supplements and pay rates for program personnel. Named positions and pay listed in the grant materials included Norma Villalueva (pay noted as $329.86 per pay period), and hourly rates of $25.60 for Valerie (name read both as Campos and Komplish in the record), Dress Florist, Laura Tristan and Kira Ortiz. The county auditor confirmed corrections to name spellings during the discussion.

Commissioner Gillespie moved to accept the grant and Commissioner Bowen seconded. Commissioners approved acceptance with three votes in favor and one abstention; a commissioner asked for and received confirmation that the record would include corrected spellings.

Brewer’s presentation asked the court to certify and accept the grant award and provided the supplementary pay details to be implemented as part of the grant funding. No local match was required, per the auditor’s summary provided to the court.
