Huron commission annexes Stony Run Park into city limits

The Huron City Commission voted to approve Resolution No. 2025-10 to annex a parcel identified as Track 1, Stony Run Park, into the city limits.

City planner Barry Cranston told the commission the parks and recreation department purchased the parcel and that the annexation is "merely just bringing the property into city limits," not a step toward approving any specific development. He said the planning commission recommended approval and that staff received no opposition.

The commission moved and seconded the resolution and carried the motion by roll call. Staff noted that any future development of the site would follow standard planning procedures and occur at a later date.

Barry Cranston said the action "brings the property into city control" and emphasized that annexation alone does not authorize construction or immediate site changes. The planner also confirmed that subsequent land-use approvals would return to planning and zoning and, if required, to the commission.

The commission approved the annexation; no public opposition was recorded during the hearing. The next procedural step for any development will be the standard planning and zoning review and, where applicable, separate commission approval.
