Council reports annexations, approves intersection redesign contract and ball-field lights; liquor-license transfer withdrawn

City Councilman Dr. Mark Rennie said the council completed the eighth iteration of county "pocket" annexations, identifying the area north of Pershing between Cary Junior High and Ridge Road and a few blocks north of that corridor. He also reported the city annexed land at the northwest corner of Converse and Carlson.

Rennie said the council approved a contract for the redesign and engineering of the 19th and Missile Drive intersection and the adjacent bridge; he said the design work will inform changes to that crossing. The council also approved a bid to install new lights at the Dutcher Ball Fields.

On a separate licensing matter, Rennie said an application to transfer Scooter's retail liquor license to a nearby convenience store failed to win finance-committee support and the applicant withdrew the request.
