Board ratifies two collective bargaining agreements with police and AFSCME employees

The Elkhart City Board of Public Safety on Dec. 9 approved two collective bargaining agreements: a corrected contract for the Indiana Fraternal Order of Police Labor Council Incorporated and an agreement with AFSCME Local 1484.

Maggie Marnoka, assistant city attorney, told the board a section had been left out of the IFOP agreement and that the corrected language appears highlighted on page 19; the board voted to accept the corrected agreement with updated language in Articles 9 and 10.

On the AFSCME Local 1484 agreement, Marnoka said the only substantive change affecting employees covered by the Board of Public Safety was that evidence technicians were moved to PG 8 where applicable; she said there were no across-the-board financial increases and that the remaining changes were formatting and proofreading. The board approved the AFSCME agreement after a motion from Speaker 1.

Both motions were recorded as passed without roll-call vote details. The agreements were described as nonfinancial (AFSCME) or corrections (IFOP) at the meeting; no salary adjustments, effective dates, or full contract texts were provided on the record.
