Wythe County supervisors honor retiring staff and two outgoing supervisors

The Wythe County Board of Supervisors used its Dec. 23 meeting to recognize long‑time employees and departing board members. The chair presented a plaque to Doug Hudson Jr. in appreciation of 42.5 years of service to the Wythe County Sheriff's Office and invited family for photographs.

The board also read and adopted a resolution (Resolution 2025‑539) honoring Supervisor Ryan M. Lawson for two four‑year terms beginning Jan. 1, 2018; the motion to adopt was seconded and approved by voice vote. The board read a second resolution honoring Chairman Brian W. (transcript contains multiple spellings) for his service and also adopted that resolution by motion and voice vote.

Board members and staff offered brief remarks about each honoree's contributions to public safety, employee support, economic development and community projects. Several members presented lighthearted parting gifts and thanked the departing supervisors for their service; no substantive policy actions were tied to the recognitions.
