Coffey County delays final payment on water study pending consultant responses

County staff told commissioners Dec. 30 that an executive-summary draft of the Coffey County water study had been delivered to staff for review, but consultants were still addressing clarifying questions raised by county reviewers.

A county staff member said the draft executive summary covers the study's main recommendations in two pages and that technical appendices require additional review. Commissioners were concerned about making final payment before they have the final document in hand. Staff offered to check with the consultant (David) and return with an update next week; the board agreed to delay final payment and to request a presentation of the final document once all clarifications are addressed.

Commissioners noted the study will inform water-project decisions expected next year, and several members emphasized the need to see the final report before approving final payment.
