At its regular meeting, the Petaluma City School District board took several actions: trustees approved a landscape assessment from Calendar Associates (voice vote), approved facility contracts and notices of completion (including Valley Vista portables and Casa Grande ADA bathroom work), and passed the consent agenda as amended. During closed session the board reported two settlement cases passed 4–1 and that the board unanimously approved a suspended expulsion for a student under board policy 5,144.1.
A proposed administrative regulation (AR) on the recovery of property loss and damage drew extended discussion. Trustees questioned vague language referencing consultation with law enforcement and a provision that would allow students to 'work off' debts; concerns included legal, equity and labor implications. Trustee Williams moved to table AR BP/AR 3515.4 for further review and alignment with existing student discipline policies; the board voted to table the item to the next meeting.
Board members also discussed future business items including a proposed resolution related to Mahmood v. Taylor, expanding access to AP African American History, meeting frequency and potential land acknowledgments. The meeting included multiple public comments on curriculum materials, artificial turf safety, and alternative education. The board adjourned to closed session for additional matters.
