Commission consents to assignment of county solid-waste hauling contract to Allied Waste Systems

County staff explained Ham Companies, the county's current hauling provider at transfer stations, plans to sell certain assets (including the Prairie Landfill) to Allied Waste Systems. The sale would constitute an assignment under the county's existing contract, which requires county consent for assignment.

Staff recommended consenting to the assignment and waiving the county's right to terminate the contract solely because of the asset sale, noting no change in services or contract terms was expected. A motion to approve consent to the assignment was made, seconded and passed; commissioners thanked the departing Ham Companies representative for service and noted the contract would remain in force with Allied Waste Systems after the assignment.

The action preserves continuity of hauling services and acknowledges that the county's contractual rights and obligations will continue with the successor company under the existing contract terms.
