City of Geneva: West Main Street reopened to two-way traffic; remaining work estimated at 5–8 weeks

City Manager Marquette announced at the Dec. 22 City of Geneva Council meeting that West Main Street has been reopened to two-way traffic while the project remains unfinished. "West Main Street is open to 2 way traffic," Marquette said, adding that parts of the roadway remain rough and drivers should exercise caution.

Marquette told council the contractor completed what they could before the winter pause and that crews will return in spring to finish outstanding items. "It's estimated that what's remaining is somewhere between 5 and 8 weeks of construction," he said.

Marquette also said the city has prepared and distributed a City of Geneva 2025 review — a compilation of projects and accomplishments from 2025 that will be posted on the city's website. He described 2026 as a busy year for construction and planning, and said many projects will carry forward into the new year.

The Presiding Official thanked Marquette and staff for the work. No public speakers addressed the council during the citizens portion that followed.

The council did not take formal votes related to the West Main Street project during the meeting; Marquette said a contractor assessment in spring will determine how the remaining work proceeds.
