Chandler High School will receive upgraded HVAC controls after the governing board approved a purchase under State of Arizona contract CTR62668 at the Dec. 10 meeting.
Tom Dunn explained the current control system dates from the 1990s and many controllers are obsolete. The district recommended contracting Mesa Energy Systems through the state contract to supply Niagara Framework software, mapping, graphics and point-to-point integration; the purchase totaled approximately $1,302,974 on presentation (the motion recorded $1,302,009.74). Officials said the upgrade should reduce utility costs (district estimate ~ $109,000 annually) and qualify for an APS rebate (about $80,000).
Board questions addressed standardization and maintenance schedules; Mr. Dunn said the district is working to unify control front ends and will provide maintenance/replacement schedules at the upcoming planning session.
