Villa Park approves reclassification of liquor licenses for 14 businesses

The Village of Villa Park board approved a multi‑item consent agenda that amended Section 3‑13(a) of the municipal code to change liquor license classes for 14 businesses.

The chair read a list of ordinance items (6a–6n) naming businesses affected, including Lunar Brewing Company, Moore Brewing, Chuck E. Cheese, HIDU Restaurant, 05:00 Bar and Grill, Allegra Banquets, Barrio 3, Mariscos/Marimar, Simon’s and Epic Hall. A village staff member provided a post‑change count of license categories: "At the conclusion of the ones that are changing, there will be 6 quadruple A, 3 'bridal A', 7 double A, and 2 single A; there will be 6 quadruple E, 3 triple E, and 9 double E; there will be 5 I's, 2 quadruple L's, and 0 single L's," the staff member said.

Trustee Jack Cozart said the reclassifications were part of earlier policy to decouple gaming from liquor licenses and to raise renewal fees for establishments that had gaming, describing the move as intended to raise revenue and improve the business mix. "When we raise liquor renewal fees for those that had gaming, this was part of the objective," Cozart said.

The board approved the consent agenda by roll call (recorded 'Yes' for trustees in attendance). The chair then moved the meeting to the next agenda item.
