After completing formal business, Brockton City Council opened the floor for councilor recognitions and farewells.
Council President (Mr. Clark) offered holiday greetings, said this was his last meeting as council president and thanked colleagues for their service. Councilor Lally commended the president and recognized three outgoing councilors, including incoming mayor Moses Rodriguez and Councilor Tom Miniciello.
Councilor Miniciello said it had been an honor to serve and reflected on moving from the school sector to the city council. Councilor Darren Court delivered an extended address thanking family, staff and constituents, urging young people to pursue their goals and emphasizing his commitment to fiscal responsibility and community service: "I made it my commitment to serve you... I made it my commitment to be loyal, to be truthful..." Councilor Moses Rodriguez spoke about his 12 years on the council, his immigrant background and his intention to continue serving the city in a new role.
Clerk reminded the public the newly elected council will be seated Monday, Jan. 5 at 10:00 a.m.; the public was invited to attend. The president then adjourned the meeting.
