Commission gives preliminary feedback on renovation and addition at 142 E. Granville St.

At a preliminary hearing Dec. 22, Jared Feder presented plans to renovate and add onto the building at 142 E. Granville Street and asked for feedback before a formal site-plan submission. Commissioners raised concerns about the west elevation’s visibility from Granville and recommended adding landscaping against that façade; staff said the parks department will install a fence along the trail as required by an existing easement.

Feder said the family operates a dance studio at the site and proposed cement-board or hardy‑plank siding after staff said metal siding would not meet zoning requirements. Commissioners suggested a "four-sided" design and modest landscaping to improve the building’s road-facing appearance, and staff agreed to review architectural and landscape details at the formal application stage.

The presentation concluded with the commission asking the applicant to return in January with updated materials.
