Kent mayor highlights Meals on Wheels shift, $14,500 employee donation and City Hall food drive

Mayor Dana Rauch said she recently joined volunteers delivering meals through Meals on Wheels, describing the door-to-door program as volunteer-run deliveries that serve homebound seniors. "It just warms my heart knowing that there are so many amazing people in our community that take of their time to support other people in our community," Rauch said.

Rauch also announced that city employees raised over $14,500 in the annual fall giving campaign and donated the funds to Children's Therapy Center, which the mayor described as a local nonprofit that helps families with children who have developmental needs. "We are so grateful for Children's Therapy Center and the work that they do here in our community," she said.

The mayor reminded residents that a City Hall food drive is underway to benefit the Kent Food Bank and Project Access. Nonperishable items can be dropped off in the City Hall lobby Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.; the last day for donations is Dec. 15. Rauch urged the community to contribute and thanked volunteers and staff who organize and deliver these services.
