Court approves Phase 1 of Lions Park riparian restoration using community-raised funds

East Kerr Initiatives requested approval to proceed with Phase 1 of a Lions Park restoration project that focuses on riparian stabilization along the riverbank. A representative said the group raised about $10,000 for a demonstration planting in an unmowed corner of the park and that the project would not affect access or current park use.

Commissioner discussion praised volunteer hours and community engagement. The court moved and seconded approval and recorded a unanimous vote. County staff noted volunteers will need to sign liability-release agreements before work begins, in keeping with county risk-management advice.
