Consultant updates Granite County on Flint Creek inspection plan after FERC comments

HDR consultant Jess Wright presented the county an update on Flint Creek dam inspection planning on Dec. 23, saying the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission provided routine comments and HDR has drafted responses.

Wright said the firm added information to the consequence analysis concerning flooding downstream of the dam, provided backup dates for inspections and workshops, and clarified which team members will serve as facilitators or subject-matter experts to streamline costs. The team plans to pursue the first-week inspection in May, with backup dates in early and mid‑June if weather or ice conditions prevent access.

Wright said some documents are provided to the county administrator and that FERC retains certain submissions as confidential because they include dam‑specific technical data. Once FERC approves the updated inspection plan, Wright said FERC will coordinate a call with county staff and the consultant team to finalize logistics.
