Titus County approves property-fraud alert software paid from records-management funds

Titus County commissioners voted unanimously to approve a contract to provide a property-records notification service intended to alert residents when documents are recorded in their names.

Miss Brosnan, who introduced the item, said the system — referred to in the meeting as Fiddler/Filler Technologies — notifies subscribers when recordings such as liens or other documents are entered under a name. She said participation will be voluntary and county-funded: “They are not gonna be automatically signed up for,” and “No charge for them, but it is extra protection,” adding the county will pay the vendor from the records-management fund.

Miss Brosnan gave the vendor cost in the meeting: “From the company, it is gonna be, 9,500 total. It’s $8,000 to sign up 4 and then $1,850 each year,” and said the service will be accessible by text, email or phone and provided in Spanish and English. She said county staff will assist people who need help signing up in person.

Commissioner Parker moved approval; Commissioner Applewhite seconded. The court voted “Aye” and the motion carried unanimously.

The records official said the county will absorb the vendor cost from existing records-management funds and that staff will publicize signup channels once the system is activated. The record will show the court approved the contract as presented.
