Board approves DayWireless contract for three tower sites to keep 9-1-1 upgrades on schedule

The Lewis County Board of County Commissioners approved resolution 25-383 on Dec. 23 to award a tower remediation contract to DayWireless, a step county staff said is necessary to ready three sites for new radio and microwave infrastructure.

Matt Botana presented the procurement details: five proposals were submitted by the Dec. 3 deadline, two fell within the anticipated cost range, and the scoring committee recommended DayWireless. Botana said the DayWireless proposal totaled $305,991 including tax and estimated 4
2'4 months for completion from contract award. "Tower remediation must be completed before the installing of the microwave systems, which are funded through a COPS grant," he said, adding that microwave work must be finished by Sept. 26 to ensure expenses are processed in time for reimbursement.

Botana also noted the lowest bid was $304,604 (approximately $1,386 less) but had a longer completion timeline. After committee evaluation, DayWireless was recommended based on scoring and timeline. The board approved the resolution by voice vote, recorded 2-0.

Next steps: staff will finalize the contract and schedule the remediation work to meet the COPS grant timetable.
