Brimfield police report: Shop with a Cop served 28 children; partnership announced with Big Red Community Foundation

Police Chief George reported to the Brimfield Board of Trustees that Shop with a Cop 2025 took 28 children shopping at the local Walmart and thanked individuals and organizations that supported the program. He said Walmart’s local store manager, Amy, has provided a $5,000 community grant to support the initiative for multiple years.

George also announced a partnership with Bernadette Moore and the Big Red Community Foundation to procure training mats and equipment to support defensive-tactics training. In exchange, the department plans to run a public women's self-defense class in 2026; George said details would be released next year.

Trustees thanked the department and noted the community-benefit nature of the program. No funding votes or contractual approvals were taken at the meeting for the partnership; George said more details are forthcoming.
