Council renews boat‑agent agreements; city collected roughly $101,000 last year

The Laconia City Council voted to renew agreements that authorize seven local boat dealers to act as agents for the City of Laconia in processing boat registrations, a routine annual action approved Dec. 20.

City staff listed the seven dealers (locations in Laconia only) and said dealers turn over registration revenues to the city; last year those agencies generated about $101,000 for municipal coffers. Council approved renewal of the boat agent list and separately authorized the city clerk to sign the boat‑agent agreement on behalf of the city. Votes were recorded as six in the affirmative.

Councilor questions focused on whether the list had changed from the prior year (it had not) and whether multi‑site dealers collect for Laconia at their Laconia location only. Staff confirmed the list matched last year’s roster and that only the Laconia location’s registrations would be remitted to the city.
