Probation officer briefs council on Sequential Intercept Model mapping and strategic planning

Miranda Bocamp, chief probation officer in court services, gave an informational briefing on a Sequential Intercept Model workshop held in the county. She said about 50 stakeholders participated — including sheriff's deputies, city police and hospitals — to map the touchpoints an individual encounters from community supports (intercept 0) through contacts with law enforcement and the courts.

Bocamp said the exercise identified system gaps and opportunities to strengthen communication and collaboration among agencies, and that some stakeholders may use the report when applying for grants. She emphasized this was an informational update; no council action or funding request accompanied the presentation.

Council members thanked Bocamp and others for organizing the workshop and noted the report will be reviewed by council members and staff for potential next steps. The presentation was framed as groundwork for future planning rather than immediate policy or budgetary change.
