Commission names new advisory-board members and shares year-end community updates

The Coral Springs City Commission approved several appointments and used the communications portion of the meeting to offer year-end recognitions and updates.

Commissioners unanimously appointed Merrill Catlin to the Accessibility Advisory Group. The record contains both spellings — "Merrill" in the agenda and "Meryl" during the on-stage introduction — which the commission did not correct at the meeting. The commission also appointed Leandro Figueroa to the chamber's seat and Robert Wolf to the conservation seat on the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board; both appointments carried unanimously.

During commission communications, members recognized Officer Mindy Massey for 18 years of service, highlighted the recent Light Up the Lawn parade and menorah lighting, celebrated a bridge dedication honoring Army Specialist Daniel Agami, and previewed the upcoming Krell National Basketball Tournament. City manager and staff received public thanks, and deputy city manager Dale Pastra was recognized for a Broward City/County Managers Association community-service award.

The meeting closed with holiday wishes from commissioners and reminders about upcoming advocacy at the state legislature.
