The Haslet City Council on Dec. 19 discussed a parks board request to include additional parks on the board’s agenda and to coordinate a playground replacement project. Council members and staff clarified that appointing park‑board subcommittees is the parks board’s authority, not the council’s, so the council did not appoint a committee.
A councilmember requested that the parks board be allowed to discuss improvements to all city parks and specifically asked that Nance Field and Firehouse Field be added to the parks board’s item listing for discussion and possible future action. The city clerk recorded a unanimous vote (5‑0) to add Nance Field and Firehouse Field to the parks board’s agenda for updates and discussion.
Councilmembers noted the playground replacement had been discussed at the Dec. 15 meeting and that more detailed design work and park policies were available for subsequent action. Staff said the parks board may add agenda items and advise the council; the council does not have authority to appoint subcommittees for the parks board.
Ending: Council moved the item forward by amending the parks board’s agenda to include the two fields and took no further action on appointments.
