Cannon County Board recognizes students and staff at Dec. 11 meeting

During the Dec. 11 meeting, the Cannon County Board of Education presented Good Citizenship recognitions and employee spotlights from across the district.

The board recognized three students present: Landon, a third grader at the elementary school and this month’s student of the month; Katie Reed from Cannon South; and Maddox Nicholson from Cannon County High School. Two recipients — Caleb Lejohn (Cannon North) and Maddie Todd (middle school) — were noted as absent.

Staff honors included employee-spotlight recognitions for Brianne Hale (elementary bookkeeper), Kim Nichols (Cannon North), Brady Mason (Cannon South), Britney Alexander (Cannon County Middle), and Joyce Taylor, Leanne Parker and Katie Melton (Cannon County High School office staff). Director Miss Julie also announced Principal of the Year Angela Cossey and Supervisor of the Year Melanie Sissom and extended holiday wishes to staff and families.

Miss Julie noted that the student representative, Maggie Jenkins, was absent because she was at a callback audition and added, “We are so very proud of all that’s involved.” She reminded staff that Jan. 5 is a professional-development day and students will return to classes on Jan. 6.

The recognitions took place at the start of the business meeting before the board moved into standard agenda items and votes.
