Commissioners approve accounts payable but pull mental‑health payment pending auditor review

During routine business the Bourbon County Commission approved accounts payable for Dec. 18, 2025 totaling $129,980.40, but agreed to pull a payment to a mental‑health provider pending auditor guidance.

Speaker 2 noted an AP charge of roughly $28,000 for a mental‑health provider and asked the clerk whether that payment had to be made under statute; the speaker recommended withholding further payment because the county had already paid more than $500,000 previously under the original resolution that had been repealed. Speaker 5 said she had contacted the auditor and would wait for a response before authorizing the final payment, and the board concurred to pull that single payment from the run to avoid late charges on other items.

The remaining AP was approved by voice vote. Commissioners asked staff to follow up with the auditor and clerk on whether statutory or contractual obligations required making the withheld payment.
