Bandera council delays decision on unspent HOT-tax funds until December

Councilmember Debbie Breen said several local business owners had asked what the city planned to do with HOT-tax funds that have not been spent, and she asked the council to postpone the allocation decision so the Economic Development Corporation (EDC) could meet and year-end revenues would be known. “I had had several business people had come to me and asked me what we were doing with the hot tax that we didn't spend,” Breen said.

Council discussed timing and acknowledged the EDC’s schedule and the need for accurate year-end accounting before making allocation decisions. The council agreed to postpone the matter to the first regular meeting in December. Debbie Breen moved to postpone; Jeff Flowers seconded. The motion carried with no opposition.

Next steps: the HOT-tax allocation item will appear on the first meeting agenda in December after EDC consideration and updated revenue figures.
