Apple Valley’s City Council and Police Department formally welcomed two new sworn officers during the Nov. 25 meeting.
Chief Francis introduced Officer Krista Erickson, noting her prior service with Apple Valley Police Department from 2013 to 2020, her bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Winona State University and a master’s in police leadership from the University of St. Thomas. Erickson recited the oath and family members joined for badges and photos. "I still have a lot more to give. I love the community of Apple Valley," the chief said on Erickson’s return.
Chief Francis also introduced Officer Royce Fungvong, who worked previously as a trainer for Dakota County public assistance workers and holds a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice and human services from the University of Phoenix. The chief described Fungvong’s community-minded background and noted his interests outside work including jiu jitsu and fishing.
The council thanked the officers and acknowledged the visible community support in the chamber.
