Plan Commission recommends approval to rezone small parcel on W. Eller Road to agricultural residential

The Monroe County Plan Commission unanimously recommended that the Board of Commissioners approve a rezone request (REZ‑25‑8) to change a parcel at 7353 West Eller Road from Limited Business to Agricultural Residential 2.5.

Planning staff presented the request as compatible with the county comprehensive plan and said deed records show the two adjoining parcels are likely one lot of record now split by a township line; the petitioner told the commission the prior business activity on the property has ceased. Petitioner Mrs. Reese said she and her husband inherited the land and intend it to remain in agricultural use and for their son to live there; she said they are retired and the former commercial business is no longer active.

Staff recommended forwarding a favorable recommendation to the Board of Commissioners subject to highway and stormwater reports. The commission voted 8‑0 to send the recommendation and to waive the final hearing. The Board of Commissioners will consider the rezoning request next.

The plan commission asked staff to include required agency reviews in the packet sent to the commissioners.
