Millersville police report: 375 calls for service in October, chief flags staffing shortfall

The Millersville police chief reported the department handled 375 calls for service in October and documented staffing strains that required supervisory coverage of patrol shifts.

According to the chief’s report, the department logged 13 ordinance complaints (including animal-related incidents), four noise complaints, 12 criminal arrests (seven adults and five juveniles), 47 traffic violations and 13 vehicle accidents (three reportable). The chief said Part 1 and Part 2 offenses were cleared at 100% for the month as presented.

The chief also reported 123 parking citations were issued and noted the department is still below full staffing levels; Lieutenant Scott covered 31 patrol hours in October to help fill shifts. No specific operational changes or requests for additional funding were recorded in the meeting minutes.

The council thanked the chief for the report and moved to other agenda items.
