Board meeting highlights: Student advisory council, Health Trust premium change and community reports

Administrators and representatives used the December meeting to brief the board on several district programs and community partnerships.

Colleen reported that she and Dr. Gojoy held a voluntary meeting for faculty and staff to review 3‑D stadium plans as administration prepares to go out to bid on Jan. 13. She also said the district's Student Advisory Council has 21 members and met for a second time to discuss a potential late‑work administrative policy; she introduced senior Cooper Williams, a student advisory leader, who attended the meeting.

In representative reports, the Capital Area Intermediate Unit reported a clean audit and noted it paid off roughly $40 million in short‑term borrowing this year, which produced a projected $250,000 loss for the IU's fiscal year; the IU is also studying transition outcomes for special education students. The Bison Foundation said it contributed support for the 30th annual MLK commemoration on behalf of Carlisle schools.

Board members also heard that the Health Trust — the district's benefits pool — projects an employee health insurance premium increase of about 10% (several other districts reported increases of 20% or more). A board member summarized: "It's at 10%, so just barely," noting the executive committee continues to explore cost‑effective benefit options.

The board closed with members' comments about American Education Week events, reminders about upcoming committee and board meeting dates, and instructions for RSVP coordination via Christina McGruder; no public comments were offered during the second comment period.
