Board members on Dec. 8 agreed by consensus to change an item prepared as a proclamation honoring the juvenile-detention centerhaplain to a resolution so the county commission could also sign the document at its upcoming meeting.
Staff advised that Rachel in the mayor
l office would reformat the text to accommodate more signature lines and present a larger, framed version for Thursdayvening. Members discussed protocol and the relative meaning of a proclamation versus a resolution; the chair explained a proclamation is typically issued by the mayor while a resolution represents joint recognition by the mayor and the county commission.
The chair and several members said the resolution would carry greater weight for the family. The board asked staff to adjust margins and signature lines so board members present could sign immediately and remaining signatories (including the absent board member, Mrs. Claire Maxwell) could sign before Thursday if possible.
No formal recorded roll-call vote was taken; the group proceeded by consensus and arranged to sign the finalized resolution after adjournment if schedules allowed.
