Mrs. Sharp told the council Feb. 13 that Marymount High School students will paint a mural under the Elm Street overpass along the bike path, likely during the third week of May.
Sharp said school staff (Mrs. Scribner) will supply three adult supervisors and choose paint intended to be durable and easily cleaned if vandalized. She said the students would rent the community building for staging, restroom breaks and meals, and the village maintenance crew would replace ground material and plant new trees after stump grinding and removal. Sharp added the school will take responsibility for regular touch-ups and would paint over serious vandalism if necessary.
No formal vote was taken; the item was a buildings-and-grounds update. The council expressed enthusiasm for the project and suggested additional volunteer options such as painting fire hydrants in summer.
