Board approves annual organization items, policies and funding requests; auditor selected

During the organization and annual meeting the Iowa City Community School District board handled a set of routine but consequential items and approved several motions by voice or online voting.

Officers and procedural items: The board approved the meeting agenda and appointed Board Secretary Colvin as temporary chair to administer oaths and run the officer elections. Ruthina Malone was elected board president and Molly Abraham elected vice president; both took the oath of office.

Committee assignments and consent agenda: The 2025–26 committee assignments were approved after a brief comment about verifying the status of an external partner group. Auditor selection: The board approved staff’s recommended auditor (a Quad Cities firm) for audits covering fiscal years 2024 through 2028 after staff said the firm was the lowest‑cost respondent and had prior work with similar districts.

Votes: For the items taken up the board chair or secretary announced that online votes had been cast and that motions carried; the transcript records unanimous or majority votes as announced by staff after online voting for each motion.
