Oviedo CRA adopts update to community redevelopment plan with canopy walk addition; two sidewalks removed

The City of Oviedo Community Redevelopment Agency voted Monday to adopt Resolution 174-25, approving updates to the agency's community redevelopment plan.

Patrick, a staff presenter, told the board that staff had added a column in the plan to distinguish new projects from existing ones, included cultural recreation and public arts, and added the canopy walk, tower and boardwalk to the project list. He said staff removed the Wood Street and Godwin Street sidewalk projects and updated the table of contents and appendices. "We also removed from this list the Wood Street and Godwin Street sidewalk projects," the presenter said.

The presenter also noted recent utility work, saying the plan was updated to reflect a reclaimed-water extension into the downtown along Oviedo Boulevard. "We updated at the request of Mayor Sladek, the reclaimed water service to show the extension that was recently completed moving reclaimed water service into the old downtown area up Oviedo Boulevard," he said.

After the presentation, a board member moved to adopt Resolution 174-25. "I move we adopt resolution number 174-25," the speaker said; another member seconded the motion. The board approved the resolution by a voice vote; no roll-call tally was recorded in the transcript.

The agency's next meeting was announced for Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2025, and the meeting adjourned.

What changed in the plan: added canopy walk/tower and boardwalk; added cultural recreation and public arts language; removed Wood Street and Godwin Street sidewalk projects; added appendix/establishing documents and a notation distinguishing new vs. existing projects.
