Supervisors hear committee updates: railroad work, temple shed progress, clean audit at YES Center

During committee reports, supervisors heard multiple operational updates including railroad-track work, building progress, and nonprofit and program reports.

Staff said BNSF is working on tracks just outside Templeton and expects the work to be wrapped up by the end of the following day; Union Pacific was also reported to be doing short-duration work in Glidden. Supervisors discussed using roadwork notification tools for brief closures, with staff noting existing free notification tools reach city communications, schools and others.

Construction updates included progress on a temple shed interior (steel liner installation and furnace/electrical setup) and a note that the structure is enclosed. The YES Center presented an audit described as "a clean audit, except for the standard language of segregation of duties being small staffing," and reported 1,111 transports for the year.

Board members also noted a DMACC career-day tour of about 30 students and confirmed four nonprofits (Family Crisis Center, Elderbridge, RSVP, Historical Society) will appear next week.
