Limestone County commissioners remember Commissioner Daryl Samet at Dec. 1 meeting

Commissioners opened their Dec. 1 meeting by remembering the late Commissioner Daryl Samet, praising his years of service and asking the community to keep his family in their prayers.

Chair said Samet 'always made our first motion' and asked commissioners and residents to remember him in their prayers. Several commissioners recounted Samet's role as a mentor and his contributions to county government, noting his long periods of service and personal support to newer members.

Commissioner Townsend said Samet had helped him when he first took office and called him 'a true servant for Limestone County,' and he thanked county staff for assisting Samet’s family after the funeral. Commissioner Gatlin asked the public to keep Samet’s family in their thoughts and prayers and noted the outpouring of community support.

The commission closed the meeting noting it was the first meeting since Samet’s death and adjourned until Dec. 15 at the location announced in the meeting materials.
