Commission reviews personnel moves, staffing corrections and merit increases

At the Dec. 1 Limestone County work session, the commission reviewed several personnel items submitted by the sheriff and commission staff.

The chair presented an amendment to the law-enforcement staffing plan correcting a typographical error so that grades reflect 20 for positions assigned to three investigators. The chair described the change as a restoration of the intended staffing level and said the sheriff had requested the correction.

Two personnel moves were presented for placement on the formal agenda: the hire of Albert del DeLuna Jr. as a deputy sheriff, effective Dec. 10, 2025, pending the results of a drug screen, and the promotion of John Russell from deputy sheriff to courthouse security sergeant, effective immediately. During the work session the chair asked the sheriff to confirm the new hire’s name; the chair noted the sheriff identified the first name as Pedro, which was recorded as a clarification in the session.

The chair also noted a set of merit increases listed in the packet. Commissioners did not raise objections during the work session; formal votes and personnel paperwork were to be completed on the upcoming agenda.
