Council honors long-serving members; mayor proclaims service awards and appointment

The Martins Ferry City Council used part of its Dec. 22 special meeting for ceremonial recognitions. The mayor presented a plaque honoring Christine Davis for 25 years serving on the council — including terms as council president — and described Davis’s longstanding work with administration, council and the community.

The mayor also invited Mister Rogers forward and recognized his many years serving on the street committee and for leading paving projects to improve safety. The mayor read a separate proclamation acknowledging Miss Jesso’s appointment to fill the remainder of retiring councilman Ben Hyman’s term and thanked her for contributions in the short time since her appointment.
